Working Bees

An initial community drop-in session was held in May 2022, where a number of kids, parents, grandparents and neighbours took the opportunity to help start caring for and planning our playspace at Bernards Way Reserve, Cape Schanck. It was an exciting opportunity to learn about the local plants and wildlife on site, as well as meet like-minded neighbours and start work on our first community project.

Previously, the Shire had undertaken some works including removing environmental weeds and planting of local indigenous plants in the reserve. Since our initial working bee, we have continued this work. Attending a working bee requires no previous experience and can cater to most abilities. Shire officers are on-site to have a chat and provide tools, training and all equipment required.

Whether you can spare 5 minutes or the whole two hours, want to participate in a working bee or just find out more about the future of our Playspace at Bernards Way Reserve – we would love to see you there!

Venue: 27 Bernards Way Cape Schanck
Time: 9:30am to 11:30am
Date: Every 4th Sunday of the month (except July, August & December).

Next working bee is Sunday 26 May 2024 9:30-11:30am
